Traditionally people make music by musical instrument (e.g. wind instruments and string instrument). Musicians interact with these instruments through touching keys, strings and playing fiddle. Absolutely this can make great music but what I am wondering is that can some new technology be used to make a new interaction experience of making music.

My idea is controlling different notes and pieces of background music through changing positions of forearms. To realize this, I made two wristbands in which there are accelerometers. These 3-axis accelerometers can detect the space angle of people’s forearms when they wearing them. Then the data is transferred to Processing, in which, the data is further processed, and used to control generating different visual interface. Processing also controls the music by transmitting data to Max. Max generates music directly as it is better at this job than Processing.隐藏
